One of my chicks has an injured leg. Currently I am giving her a vitamin blend that I picked up at the feed store and aspirin. For the aspirin, I am diluting 1 baby aspirin (81mg) in a quart of water (along with the vitamins). People on BYC forum are saying to mix 4-5 "regular" aspirin tablets/gal of water. A "regular" tablet is 325mg as opposed to a baby aspirin which is 81mg. I'm pretty sure that dosing with the "regular" tablets would be much too high. If I am right, then perhaps it should be clarified as "baby aspirin" and not "regular" aspirin.

Dosage for baby aspirin(81mg) is 25 mg per lb of body weight. Crush and give in water or sprinkle over food. You can also give an epsom salt soak, good for sprains/sore muscles, soak for 15-20 mins if older hen 10-15 for younger chicken. Do not let them drink epsom water, can cause dehydration. Aspirin may cause drowsiness.
