Long story short is there any other reason (except mites) that 25% of my hens have naked butts? Everyone did well this winter considering the deep freeze we have been in here in Southern New Hampshire. Yesterday I noticed that a few of my hens have naked butts. Seems like it happened overnight. I've had mites before and treated them successfully last fall so I know what to look for. Tonight I went out with a flashlight and carefully looked over the affected hens and I did not find any sign of mites. The nest boxes were clear (there is a thin dusting of Sevin powder under their bedding) and so were the perches.
