I have four 25 week old EEs. They are on laying mash. Three of them have combs and faces that have turned red (probably for about two and a half weeks or so). And one is still unchanged. So just wondering others experiences with EEs and laying ages.

One of my EEs started laying just shy of 4 months. The other two have started laying in the past week--just shy of 5 months. So--very early! Make sure you have a next box ready--they will be checking it out just before they lay. Also oystershell.

Well, I hope these girls will lay. It would be odd to have four that do not lay at all, don't you think? They are in with my adult hens, so they see egg laying everyday. What do you think is a definite age that they should be laying by?

I have two EEs at almost 27 weeks now and neither is laying. one looks ready with red comb and squatting, visiting nest box, but no egg yet. The other one has a comb not super red, but no squatting or visiting the nest box. She is also a my chicken that seems most sensitive to the heat. Otherwise they all seem happy and healthy. I think they lay when they are good and ready.
