I have 12 turkey poults age 3 weeks and two of them have fleshy bumps on their necks at about the spot where caruncles should appear. I'm new to turkeys so I may be wrong, but I didn't think they got them until later. Both of them I am strongly suspecting are males, the black Spanish struts almost constantly during their daily food and water changes. Both are also getting longer snoods. I honestly didn't think these traits showed up this early.
Anywho, do the caruncles start as flesh toned bumps on the neck that lack feathers?
