at What age do chickens start to brood?

They can brood anytime after they start to lay eggs. My only broody hen ever went broody at about 8 months old. She'd been laying a couple of months. However, not all chickens go broody. For the most part, I think that's been bred out of modern day hatchery birds, with a few exceptions.
