I was reading a FAQ section of an egg company and they said that their chickens stop laying at about 2 years....
Does this seem about right to everyone?

Our oldest girls are older that 2 and still laying every day. I think it also depends on what breed of chicken you have

Egg production declines as the hen ages, but how quickly it does so, varies a lot from hen to hen. I have a 6 yr old brown leghorn who still lays 3-4 eggs per week, but my 6 yr old EE only lays about an egg every 2 wks. I have two 4-yr old barred rocks and a hamburg who each lay 4-5 eggs per week.

Thanks. I was hoping they would lay for longer than that

I have heard that their "prime" for egg laying is at 2 yrs. but they keep laying for much longer.....guess it just depends on breed and how healthy they stay...
