Hello, I'm Kristin, and I just got my first chickens about a week ago. I live in Atlanta with my husband and 4 dogs. Our chickens have a small henhouse from Creative Coops, a run, and a tractor.
We got 3 chickens who were rescued from an area factory farm because their eggs are too big. I am happily anticipating this problem!
I have no idea what breed they are, but they are red with white spots. Any insight appreciated, but I don't actually care about breed, I just want the eggs!
I love to cook and listen to / watch / read about chefs, so my chickens are named Alex GuarnEggshelli, Lynne Rosetto-Cackler, and Mollie KatzHen after some of my favorite chefs.
I found BYC from websearching a couple of questions that have come up and found the forum extremely helpful.
My other main interest is in rescuing dachshunds, we have been part of DREAM Dachshund Rescue for the past 11 years. The dachshunds are surprisingly calm about the addition of chickens to our yard. I'm also a budding novelist; I write dystopian fiction.
Thanks for the terrific resource of all your wisdom!
