ok from my parents hobby farm i have a pair of guienas from last year. I live in the city but they are quiet and i let them in the yard daily with one of the guard dogs i got from my farm (imports from russia and czech)

Issue is out of the blue this male guinea decided to attack everything and anyone

He has attacked the guard dog even which turned around and pinned him pulled a feather out. That scared the guinea for a day now hes back at it. Idont want the dog to get fed up and break his neck. This is a dog that has been used to guard livestock ten years and never killed any of our pets but has killed coyotes coons and other feral dogs, and even a fisher. She is the dream dog for a hobby farm but she wont let an animal just claw her for no reason. She willl be walking around doing her own thing and the guinea flew at her. She showed enough restraint to pin the guinea without hurting him. But i dont want her to get fed up and kill the guinea. The guinea beat the snot out of my ybengal cat who has caught birds bigger than the gunea. I carry a stick or net and hes afraid of that. but he is always looking for ways to sneak attack me. I dont wanna lose the bird though there has to be something i can do. Should i net him and hold him? He and his wife are so good when its dark they go back to their coop. They terrify possums and cats and people. I really like him aside from the fact he wants to claw me. The female is a lot more nice and mellow.

This is normal behavior when you don't let guineas be themselves. Do what is right and rehome the guineas to somewhere that they can be part of a large flock of guineas.

Guineas are a flock bird and are not meant to be kept as a pair. No other birds understand guinea behavior except other guineas.

Guineas can seem to be doing wonderful right up until the first breeding season occurs. You obviously imprinted the guineas or they would fear you and not attack you.

Stick to chickens.

Found a solution that works ty to the others for r2elk the guineas arent imprinted and i have kept guineas for ten years. Imprint is my hornbill, african pied crow and aracari. If you think only imprinted birds attack please feel free to meet our sarus crane pair. :bow

Yes, Guinea fowl are consider large flock birds but I know of plenty of people that have kept small flocks or even 3 or 4 with no issue. They are perfectly happy and healthy Guineas. How do I know? Because I originally started with four. I have never been attacked and they are actually quite gentle and loving. They Co-reside with dogs, kids, ducks, and geese. And although there is some general pestering between the fowl in breeding season. There aren't any huge issues. They arent fond of strangers or strange animals but that is how I would prefer it.

I have kept guineas for 10 years. I free range after training them to put themselves in for the night. Eventually the number of guineas who choose to go inside dwindles and thus the flock dwindles. Recently my 2nd flock was down to 2 that free range. They have been around the family, cats, strangers, big dogs, 3lb dogs, all of us with no problems for 5 years. Suddenly last month they both started attacking. They are both males and it has just been the 2 of them for the last year. Last spring my 3 yr old fed them and they followed him around. They ate side by side with the 3 lb dog. Now they attack my 4 year old and they nearly killed my little dog. I have had as many as 25 at a time and I have had a single Guinea. I have had a team of 4 guineas chase a coyote across a pasture. But I have never seen the pure meanness that has suddenly appeared in my once loving fowl.
