Austra White bred back to Black Australorp?

First ...

You'd get some blacks and some whites, theoretically 50/50, with both males and females being either black or white, and you'd still probably get the random black flecks on the white chickens. At least that's my understanding of AustraWhites (Black Australorp x White Leghorn) and Black Australorps. They are both Extended Black with the Leghorn having Dominant White in addition to Extended Black. However, the hatchery can do whatever it wants and White Leghorns can hide a lot of stuff under the Dominant White; it just depends on how that White Leghorn happened to be bred over its parents' successive generations. Of course, I could be all wrong about it, but that's how I understand it. If I'm wrong, someone will most likely come along and tell me.

I liked my AustraWhites. Great layers, yet pleasant. I didn't ever breed them with my Black Australorps, though, since I only had hens.

Will Austra White x Austra White result in Austra Whites? or is it like a sex link where it doesnt breed true?

I did it 50 years ago as a school science project. I got some white, some black, some white with black flecks, like the parents. Some were built more like a leghorn some more like an australorp. I was surprised to also get a couple of blues, which just proves what Spangeled was saying about not knowing what is hiding under the dominant white of the leghorn component.
