Is there a way to tell these chicks apart? Or do I need to wait till they are feathered out? I have 2 of each (hatched this week) and can't figure out which is which.

(these pics are not mine 1st from mypetchicken.com ans 2nd from cacklehatchery.com)

The pic on the top are black australorp chicks and the ones on the bottom are dominique chicks.
Australorp chicks have more white than dominiques on their stomach and chest. And Dominiques have a white spot on their head.

Yes, there is a very very easy way to tell them apart. Australorps will have a single ridge of a comb (raised line). Dominiques will have a little rough bump, or smooth flat space where the comb should be. Easy peasy.

Thanks! The heads and combs match. Nice to know what's what :) So on the left is one of my Dominiques & on the right an Australorp.
