My son purchased an australorp but it appears to have a more dominant stand and is top in the pecking order. We have a question as to its gender. We were hoping for a hen but it seems to be developing comb and waddles quickly. These pics are at the age 11-12 weeks of age.

Very prominent comb for a pullet. I would say cockerel if it is truly this young

The large comb/ wattles is why we've been questioning it. We have read about the rounded feathers, which it seems to have, and the comb did not seem to be the full length of the head which was another characteristics I was told to look for.
Thank you for your information.

My girls are 18 weeks and their combs are nothing like that yet, they're still on the smaller side, closer to their heads. So for him to be around 11-12 weeks, I'd definitely have to say cockerel.
