Hen or Roo?
What are some of the things to tell them apart in this breed?
I have the big one in this picture but i also have some babies and I would love to no what to look for in trying to sex them.
thanks so much.

Notice in the picture the stance of the legs? Pullets legs are ususally centered when growing. Males legs are positioned further back.

males hold their head higher as a rule

hmmmmm I will have to try and look at those little legs
and see if i can tell.
thanks!

At 4 1/2 months old, it would be almost laying age if it's a pullet and that size comb is not too large for a 4 1/2 mo. old pullet.

If it's a cockerel, it should have pointed sickle & hackle feathers by now - I don't see any in this picture - can you see them?

I'm not positive, but it looks like a pullet to me.

Well i don't no how pointy pointy is if ya no what i
mean???? I look and i am like ok is that pointy
or round pointy? Sooo confusing!!!

Australorp hens can have big combs and wattles. If it were a rooster, at 4 1/2 months, wouldn't the comb and wattles be much bigger and saddle feathers showing? I'm not experienced enough to really know, but I am guessing hen.
