australorp pullets?

Hi, our feed store is selling australorp pullets... how do they know the difference between male and female? Are they bred like sex-link? If I were to buy some is there a way I can ID a pullet? Color perhaps? Thanks

They vent sex them at the hatchery. It takes a lot of training to be able to do that and it is only 90% accurate.

I believe that breed can only be sexed by traditional means via visualizing the part of the vent where male/female sex organs can be seen.

Many breeds are sexed in this manner, only certain types of crosses can be feather or color sexed.
