I have a 6 week old australorp that I’m thinking might be a rooster. Im so bad at determining though! What do you guys think??

Yeah they’re still young. I have two though the same age. And this guy has a much longer tail feather. His feathers are different and he’s larger. Quite a personality already too. Feisty.

It could easily be months before sexing through sickle feathers is possible. Feisty might mean something. But again, too young to say for sure. Some hens just have ants in their pants.

Thanks for updating this post! I have 2 australorp this same age that look just like your did and my novice mind was wondering as well
Same! I still struggle telling the difference with chickens this age. They’re tails were throwing me off. I’ve been looking at so many old posts of people asking hen/roo and wish everyone came back to update so figured I should as well!

Don't put any stock in the tails. It's not an indicator of sex with young birds. It's common for pullets to grow "male" type tail feathers and molt them out later. Significant comb and wattle growth 8 weeks or younger are defining cockerel traits.

Oh that’s good to know, thanks!
