Hi All! I have a 7 1/2 week australorp roo (as confirmed by some of you a few weeks ago) and I was wondering what kind of temperament that have - are they noisy boys who crow a lot? I've read that they're sweet and quiet-ish and good for families with children (which I have) but I'd like some input from others with "first hand experience". Any advice or things I should know about him? Are they jerks as they get older? (Because he's the sweetest snuggle bug right now!) any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

Australorp can be a nice big rooster with a deep voice. All roosters have different personalities. Sometimes handling roosters too much will cause them to view you as part of the pecking order, and they will attempt to dominate you when they sexually mature. I take a hands off approach to raising my roosters. Your boy should be big when he matures, it will take him 2 years to fully mature.
