I have committed myself to australorps but I would also like to add some great broodies and pets. I would also like a little bantam flock as well. Taking any and all suggestions to breeds that fit these criteria and get along with australorps as well.

You can get banty easter eggers (or plain easter eggers) too. They're friendly, good mothers, and never sure what color of egg you're going to get from them until they start laying (and you figure out who's laying which eggs).

My Bitty cochin?

She is awesome. She is mellow whether she is broody or not.
All the cochins I have had have been sweet birds.

We have one black Australorp and she is the sweet docile one in our four hen flock. The splash Maran is wary and fast; the Columbian rock is bold and inquisitive, and the Golden Laced Wyandotte is skittish and aloof. The Australorp is the one who gets along with everyone and just does her thing.
