I was thinking RH Controller and probe controlling a peristaltic pump and evaporating media in the fan airflow.

twigg..... do you think that this may work in my bator? I think that this may be what was there but not sure. The top of the tank has a hole in it about 3" dia. and a plug from the humidisat.

You could use a regular house digital thermostat an extend the thermal resister an put it in a wet bulb type setup but that would require keeping another water source full. You could also replace the thermal resister with a humidity dependent resister. A humidity dependent resister vary between $3 an $20 an the thermostat is around $25. Or you could build a complete circuit for around $15.

I may go with one of these if I build another but I'm happy with what I have now.

I have to agree with Twigg about the cheaper humidistats..they will work OK for a while, but most of the really cheap ones actually use a horse hair, and the more expensive models use a human hair. They both wear out and give very very inaccurate readings in a relatively short period of time. Some of the better ones now, have 3 spools in them now, with a nylon strand running around the spools. This is suppose to be far more precise, and also the most expensive.
