Automatic Water System for Fodder

Does anyone use an automatic water system for growing fodder? I found this one on amazon...
I want to grow small scale fodder like in 10" x 10" pans and and as a tinkerer an automatic watering system is appealing to me.

I just found an automatic watering timer I had bought a few years ago but never used. I can select from 2hr, 4hr, 8hr and 12hr intervals with durations of 2min, 5min, 10min, 15min etc. What would be a good place to start the settings at?
