how do you make a avatar i keep on cliking on a pic and it says that the pic is too big

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I went online and searched for avatars and found mine. It was already the correct size

I just used the computers paint program to size my Avatar pic to the correct size. ( I took that picture myself, it's not a web stolen pic)
