Hi,

One of chickens has a pox on their comb and I keep my chickens and ducks together, how will this affect the ducks? Thanks

There are 3 strains of avian pox: Fowl pox, pigeon pox, and canary pox.

Fowl pox infects chickens, turkeys, pheasants, quail and ducks.
Pigeon pox infects pigeons, chickens and turkeys.
Canary pox effects canaries, chickens, pigeons and sparrows.

So the question is which strain do your chicken carry? Symptoms are identical.

How can you tell if your ducks get the avian pox? Also, if chickens or ducks have avian pox can you still be NPIP Certified?
