I have 14 chickens and 1 turkey that I plan to worm with Avitrol Plus.
Not comfortable with crop administration.
The water diluted dosage directions seem to be for individual caged birds.
Any suggestions on how to work out the dosage rate for my flock's 3 litre communal drinker so they each get a good dose?

Can this be administered orally and if so at what dosage?

"The recommended dosage of Avitrol Plus is 1 drop of syrup concentrate per 10 grams of bird bodyweight. Dilute 12 drops/0.5 ml of syrup concentrate in 20-25 ml of drinking water."

Working on 14 chickens at 2kg each, 1 drop per 10gms would be 20 drops per 2 kgs?
14 birds x 20 drops = 280 drops
12 drops = .5ml therefore 280 drops = 12 mls?
0.5ml per 20ml water, therefore 12mls avitrol in 480ml water?
half a litre doesn't sound like a lot of drinking water for 14 chickens?
Does this sound correct?

Can anyone confirm this calculation for me since i got it wrong the first time:

2kg bird = 10g x 200 = 2000 drops
12 drops = 0.5ml so 2000 drops = 8.5ml syrup per chook
14 chooks = 14 x 8.5ml = 119ml
0.5ml syrup to 20mls water so 1.0ml syrup to 40mls water
119mls syrup x40mls water = 4.760mls water

119mls syrup in approx 5 litres water

Do the birds have to drink the entire 5 litres to get their correct dosage?

You can use 25 ml per liter of water for 24 hours, and they will drink the amount they need based on their weight. If they normally would drink 3 liters, mix 75 ml per liter. This is based on the first link I posted.
