Last year when I was a new chicken mom I spent hours outside taking pictures of my chicks. This year I am finding myself not documenting my chicks' growth progress like I did with my first batch. I have them as wee ones but I haven't been capturing their growth nearly everyday, or week even, like I did last year... and I don't feel motivated to start now either. What is up with that?

My DIL was talking recently about the same phenomenon with her children (4 or 6, depending whether you count both his and hers or just hers.)

I have plenty of pics of my son that others took, and even a video. I'd rather chat with him than look at pics. Not the same for kids and chickens, maybe, but also not really so different. Photos just trigger some memory pattern in the brain. I prefer now. That's why I still don't own a camera.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing... about how I have a lot more photos and videos of my older kids, especially the professional photos.

I know what you mean. I took pics constantly of my first batch of chicks from MMH and our first ducks.

I just got chicks from Ideal and lots from TSC and I find myself feeling more overwhelmed now, not spending as much time with them or taking as many pics. I love having the chicks, but I am ready for them to get old enough so I can thin them out and decide which ones I want to keep and name. Also don't want to get attached to ones that might turn out to be roos.
