But the question is, why don't my chicks don't seem to like starter feed covered plain yogurt much...

They are wary of new things. Keep offering it to them, and they'll soon discover that it's safe to eat!

Mine were the same way when it came to the yogurt. Finally I was sick of wasting the yogurt and decided to reintroduce it down the road. I did, they were around 4 or 5 mos. old-holy cow, you'd a thought a whole can of mealworms fell out of the sky or something! They devoured it in seconds and the stuff was flying all over the place!!
