Hi every body....Ok, my chicks are still in brooder, in my living room, about 3 1/2 weeks old, my question is...the brooder has a roost in there, and everybody but one is flyin' up there and sleeping the nights away, I feel so bad as there is the lonely one, huddled up on the stoop. She will, walk around bottom of brooder all stretched and"lookin" like she wants to try, but doesn't, she peeps and bunkers down, I feel so bad for her, I have even tried puttin her on the roost, she just jumps down instantly....this has been going on for days now, there is room for her there, she just doesn't try to get up there....do you think there is something wrong, or is she just "chicken"!!! Thanks!!!
***UPDATE***...Well, it is looking the she is def a he....s-l-o-w on feathering out, and it seems his feathers have a curl to them?? Just on the very tips....weird looking, but to this day, he doesn't roost with the rest...still hunkers down on the coop floor. I know he can fly as when they are out free ranging...I have seen him fly to catch up with the flock. He does get on the roost in the run...but is just different. What do you think is up with him, is he ever gonna roost with them....is he ever gonna get all his feathers?? I see no sore spots on feet or anything to cause concern other than the funny looking feathers he has.... I am just thinkin' ahead...to winter...and picturing him...all alone on the coop floor... what do you all think...concern or not????
