First time broody Keesha with her adopted EE babies. Her babies started hatching this afternoon and the feed store just happened to have gotten in these cutiepie EEs when I went in to buy chick starter. So far so good with the hatching/adoption process...

great picture. what kind of hen? looks like my barred rocks but the eggs i see under her are really dark like marans eggs.

Thanks everyone - I took your advice and submitted for pic of the week.

She's a Cuckoo Maran - setting on purchased Black Copper Maran and BC/Cuckoo cross eggs. Just one of the mixed babies had hatched before we had to let her be. Can't wait 'til morning to check on the rest!!

I'm pondering the idea of designing a glass bottomed broody box for next time

Update!

4 eggs hatched 4 healthy babies. 3 to go - day 21 today. I'm starting to get discouraged on the last three - it's been 24 hours now since the first hatch - no pip yet as of this afternoon.
