Aye, aye, aye.....15 eggs today!! (and ?? about a non-layer?)

Guess what? At least one of my young A&Ms in the 'no egg' pen is a girl, I got my first egg from that pen today!!! So I have:

2 for 2 laying tuxedos;
9 of 10 laying jumbo browns (don't know WHAT the deal is with the other one!! Any ideas?? )
and 4 young A&M layers so far!! There are 10 A&M total, and I know 3 of them are males. Let's hope that the other 7 are all females!!

Any ideas on my one jumbo brown? She is at least 10 weeks old, and all the others have been laying for at least a month. But I get no more than 6 eggs daily from that pen, out of 7 girls!! What's the deal?

Are you sure it's just one that's not laying? Or are they each just alternating missing a day every now and then? That would be normal.

No, I'm not sure, but I find it odd that I never get more than 6 eggs from that pen, when I get 3 from the other jumbo browns everyday (from 3 hens), and 2 from the tuxedos everyday (from 2 hens). I rarely get less than 6 eggs from that pen (7 hens in that pen), so that's why I think there is one not laying. Even the young A&M's that have started laying haven't skipped a beat yet. One of them has been laying at least a week, and I have gotten an egg daily from her, and from the other 2 that had started before today.

I have 6 chickens laying that are together but the most eggs I get from them is 5. They take turns taking a day off.

Yes, but my point is that none of my other quail take a 'day off'. They haven't since they started laying. I think the only time any of them have skipped a day was when we had 2 weeks straight of rain. That was understandable, but this is ridiculous. I guess I'll have to seperate one a day into a cage until I find the non-layer. But not sure if that will work, since moving them can make them stop laying? I have 1 hen that was pecked pretty badly by her pen-mates, and she didn't lay for the first day she was in solitary. Since then, she has layed daily, even after putting her back with her group, getting her head pecked again, and being moved to solitary again!!

I would think I should get a 7-egg-day a few times a week if that were the case....

As for the one that's not laying IF she's not alternating, then i'd say just give her 2 more weeks. I've had some hens not lay until 12 weeks so i'd say it's possible she's waiting lol

My girls decided to take a day off TODAY, of all days! I needed 140 eggs for an order today and they disappointed me. Ended up with 133 but it all worked out. I usually get 3 a day from the one pen and I got 3. The girls in the other though...normal is 13 and I only got 6 :-( Gave them the pep talk and everything! We've had thunderstorms here all week though and maybe that did it.
