In the two weeks that I've owned my two point-of-lay pullets, I've been feeding them organic layerfeed. It contains 15% protein. My pair are approximately 21 weeks old now, as I believe the previous owner said she hatched them in the last week of February.
Some of the BYC posts that I just read said not to switch to layer feed until they actually start laying.
They haven't laid any eggs as yet, though I expect they'll start laying any day now. One's a Marans; the other, an Ameraucana.
(I contacted the previous owner yesterday and she said that the sisters of both of my two pullets haven't started laying as yet either.)
I'm wondering if I switched to layer feed too early. Is there something that I can add to the layer feed that will make it more nutritionally similar to grower feed?
