Well, my 5 week olds are in the coop for the first night..with a meat hen that has turned in for the night. They are running around right now in the run. I have a chicken cabin and no way to close them up for the night. I thought about going out there and manually putting them in the top enclosed area, but they can run out anyways. I'M A NERVOUS RECK!!! My boyfriend is laughing at me and telling me to let them enjoy thier first night out, I guess I have to...

Mine will be spending their first night out tomorrow night. I still have to put the door on the run. I am in the same situation, No door on the coop but an fort nox run enclosed tip to toe. I know I will be a nervous wreck tomorrow night. I just have pictures in my mind of the coons and foxes camping out trying to get to them.

But alas, we must let them be real chickens and have a life outside of the brooder

I am going out in a bit with a flashlight to see where they are at in the run. I might crawl in and put them up top!..good luck tomorrow night..you will not sleep!

As excited as I am to get mine out of the garage... I am going to freak out worrying about them! We are putting a door on the pop hole, so I think I will go out and close it each night once they are out there for a little while, anyway... can't be worrying about my babies!

Mine are spending their first night out too. They left the run while it while still light and headed for the coop, so I secured it - glad to see them doing this on their own because the coop itself isn't secure. DH just said a low of 55 tonight so I just made him put the brooder light in the coop for the evening. I hope they will be ok...

What region are you from?

I just went out and they were in the middle of the run, sleeping..

..I gently picked them up and put them in the top of the cabin (it is closed on 3 and half walls), they have thier food and water in there. Hopefully they will stay put. I have noticed chickens are in a trance at sundown, THEY SLEEP HARD!! My meat hen is in the bottom in a nesting box she sleeps in..I thought she would help me tonight and herd them up the ramp..she did not appreciate me botherinbg her with a flashlight...
