Our guinea eggs are starting to hatch!
1 came out this morning or last night. They are under a clucky hen, I was just wondering how long they take to hatch out and should we take them from the hen?
Thanks!

is it under a chicken or guinea? keets dont have a yolk reserve like chicks do, they need to eat in 4 hrs or so. a chicken will stay until the others hatch possible starving the keets that hatch first and a guinea will take the first keets off the nest leaving the unhatched to die. also guineas dont make very good moms. the best chance is in a brooder with you and heat in my opinion.if you take the keets they should continue to sit

They are under a chicken. 2 have hatched and 2 others were dead :(
The 2 that were dead were a brown colour. Her is the other 2 tho

It's chick starter, it does seems a little big tho. I might ground it down a bit. There are 2 more eggs under her.
What's the difference between the colours?

i belive what you have there will be white guineas when they grow up, the two that died were probably the more common pearls. you can wet their food with a little sugar water, warm like a baby bottle, they love it and be careful with their water they can drown easy, just put some clean rocks or marbles in the waterer . they are so cute!

I hope the other 2 eggs hatch out.
There so tiny! Especially compared to baby chickens.

Would you say that these 2 other guinea are the pearls?
We got them fully grown and half wild and they have calmed down a bit

they are pearl in color but you see that white feather on the wing? that makes them pied i belive is the name, but the babies im assuming is theirs? that pied trait , is where a pearl and possibly a white or pied mated to get your bird, so it has the gene for white . i have 11 guineas of all color and their babies so far have all been pearl. with of course the white being my personal favorite. then chocolate, slate. oh, guess i like them all.lol

Hhaha I didn't realize how many different colours there is for the guineas.
And no they didn't come from the 2 bigger ones. We got them from a friend. We have had the bigger pair for a few months now, haven't found a nest yet but hoping its here somewhere lol!
Also we haven't noticed them mating yet
