I'm so excited. Mom did such a good job brooding these guys! I noticed yesterday she was sitting tight, not getting off the nest to eat so I figured they were busy hatching, yup they sure were! I've left the pair together while mom was sitting, and all went well. Now this morning Dad was hanging out near the nest, checking things out, maybe guarding it while mom went to get a snack so I was letting them do their thing. However, one of the babies got stuck in her feathers when mom popped out of the house and was out and dad started pecking at the babe. I though maybe he was trying to get it back into the nest but it was a little too aggressive I thought so I put up a divider. I might have let it be if I had been able to sit and observe but I had to leave to go to work. Better safe than sorry? Was hoping he would help raise them, maybe I could do some limited observed visitations when I am home?
