baby cakes?

anyone give baby cakes to new chicks? i bought one at the agway and i was thinking about giving it to them, also when can i put in some de?

I found that the chicks LOVED the babycake! but I waited until they were a couple of weeks old and thier curiousity had kicked into full gear. 6 chicks went through one babycake in about a week if I remember correctly. i just picked up a couple since we are getting our chicks on MONDAY!! Woo hoo!

I'm sorry I can't help you with the DE question. But if the chicks aren't exposed to the outdoors or older chickens, maybe they wouldn't need it for a bit?
