Last evening I bought 4 rainbow layer pulleys. They are a week old today. One of them is smaller than the others and the moment we brought her home she is acting weird. My initial thought was maybe she is blind or has some kind of trouble seeing. She kept wandering around the brooder, walking around in circles, climbing over the other chicks, pecking at the floor as if she's looking for food but not really picking any up. Shell wander until she bumps into water bowl and stick her entire beak into water and realize it' water and drink some. My husband sat and watched her and dooesnt think she's blind because she kept tryimg to fly out of the brooder. Of course she can't because the walls are high but she just kept jumping up at the walls. Can anyone help? I'm not sure what to do.

Try adding some electrolytes or even some brown sugar to the water for a quick energy source. I use 1 teaspoon of brown sugar to a quart of water. If that doesn't perk it up than it could be something else internally wrong with it and it won't make it unfortunately.

I will try that! It' so weird because she's very feisty. And will fight if I pick her up.

I find that poultry Nutri Drench is the best product on the market for helping a failure to thrive chick. A single drop, full strength several times/day. I also put it in the water for the first 2 weeks, starting daily for the first week then with decreasing frequency.
