This morning my dog had gotten a hold of my 2 month old baby chick. I found it in time to save it from him but now she's really sleepy and is got air trapped under her skin. It's the weirdest thing if you mash on it it moves to another part of her body. I've had chickens attcked before and they do get over it but I've never had one to get this air problem. If you have any ideas on what I should do please let me know. I don't want to loose her.

Thanks in advance!

That's not a great sign. How deep does the air appear to be? Around her organs? Air trapped under the skin leads me to question whether there are any deep puncture wounds. If there are punctures, where are they located? Have you treated for the initial shock? I need more info. What are you feeding her? Where is she currently being housed? What does her wound look like?

Diagnosing the problem correctly is crucial and with something like this the owner needs the info to correctly assess what they are seeing (something noone on the forum can do)
There are also helpful tips to deal with it and info giving indications when it may be necessary to go to a vet > I excerpted some of the info but you may want to consult the full length articles.

Sounds like broken or badly damaged air sacks, will need to drain the air more than likely using a syringe until the air sacks can heal if that is possible depending on damage done. Anti's will need to be given as well during air drainage

post picks will need to see what it looks like..of course we wont be able to see the internal damage if the teeth went into the bird..

Yup here is a pic from a customer of mine who purchased a pair of wild easterns from me, they had put the turkeys into a steel type sheep cage with a steel top, he damaged his air sacks by jumping up and hitting the top, lucky they saved him by draining the air out of the head and neck area..

they had him on anti's and it took them almost 10 days of draining to get him back in order, good people they are to be so kind to save there boy... this is much different then a dog attack, but you may be able to save the bird..

I don't recommend using the knife idea as mentioned above in the link provided., may make things worse by cutting or slicing.. use a new sterile syringe which can be purchased at most TSC stores if that is the case
