See this thread for hows and whys. It's not just for travel stress. For anytime birds need an "extra" in their diet or lifestyle.

This supplement is a wonderful product. Easy to use and economical. The specialist company only makes this kind of supplement for many species. Have used it for years on poultry and dogs. Great stuff. They have done all the nutritional work for you. Just one single drop by mouth for each chick at first. Then 2cc per gallon for maintenance. 4cc per gallon for severely stressed or needy birds. feed your normal ration. No need to change anything else in their diet when using this. 800,000+ birds second the opinion.

Though I haven't tried it yet, I have read several times that a hard boiled egg chopped very fine is a great boost for a failing chick. It is the yolk in particular that gives them the boost, so you may want to get rid of the white and just chop up the yolk for your baby.

Also check him for pasty butt. Pasty butt keeps them from being able to poop and will kill them quickly. If this is his problem check out my pasty butt cure. Good luck!

Put apple cider vinegar with "the mother" in the water, best thing I've done for my girls. I started giving it to them around 2-3wks every day all day and they have never ever been sick or even just acted strangely, nothing. I've had perfect chickens for my first experience, I'm worried they have spoiled me.

I'd say I put about 1tbsp to a gallon, but really I just dump some in

Your local feed store will have vitamins with electrolytes packages. Cheap enough and easy to put in water. One dose is all you need to perk the chicks up enough to feed.

The neat thing about Poultry Nutri-Drench is that it doesn't need to be digested. It mainlines directly to the bloodstream. 50% uptake in 15 minutes. Feeding he chick extra goodies is a fine idea if the chick can digest them. But if it is needy and this has affected its G.I. tract so the digestion process isn't up to par, then the chick will not receive all the benefits from egg yolk and other special feeds.
