Hello! I have a bantam hen who has been sitting on her eggs since the 10th i believe. I've been watching not wanting to disturb the hen and natural cycle.Today i see a baby chick on the floor of coop and its weak but walking, almost staggering. Its dry as if its been out for some time. I pick up to inspect and it is missing a portion of its top beak. Almost like it didnt form correctly, and its soft. One of its eyes is closed. I put it in box with heat but im sot sure there is much i can do. any suggestions?? thanks!

Welcome!

I am sorry to hear about you little one and also that I have no experience with that issue. However, I recommend posting some pictures on the ER Forum where you should get some good advice as to the best decision to make: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Edited to Add: I see that you have posted on the ER Forum. However, I just wanted to add that some pictures would be helpful as they will show the extent of the issue and depending on how much beak is missing, may help decide the best course of action.

Good luck!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
