Hello everyone. we have this day old chick, her left leg is stiff and she cries when we stretch it out. She hatched early. none of the other eggs have hatched yet. she’s active and scoots around on her one leg. What’s wrong?

Poor baby. Can you feel if there are any breaks? I’ve heard of things like a slipped tendon happening but I’m not sure what the problem here is.

I doubt this is a broken leg.
It could be a genetic defect, slipped tendon, paralysis, etc....
She’s starting to put a little weight on it. i think she hurt it while hatching. I will keep y’all updated

Hey guys. Baby chick isn’t well. She’s still alive luckily but it is definitely a slipped tendon.

I’m very sad to say she has passed away. She was doing great one day and gone the next. This is the first time this has happened to me, in 7 years of owning chickens. We buried her with my other special chickens that have passed away. She’s in heaven now.
