Couple days old, Easter egger- was fine until I found her earlier today kind of laying flat. She has a touch of pasty butt, washed her off, but her lethargy got worse. She’s pooped 2x since then but her health is rapidly declining. Separated her from the rest, feeding her water through syringe, but no improvement. It’s like she’s gasping from breath? Every once in a while it’s like she has a spasm and flips on her back!
Anyone have any suggestions!! This is a first for me :/

So sorry she's having such a hard time! Poor baby. You did good to get water into her. Keep it up, and add a little sugar to it for a boost of energy. It sounds to me like a vitamin deficiency, but I couldn't be sure which one (D? E? B's?). Do you have some Poly-ViSol (without iron) on hand? It's a human infant vitamin solution, and has everything a baby chick needs, too. Any large pharmacy should have it. A drop or two several times a day.

All of this is just emergency measures, but doesn't directly address the specific cause of what's ailing her. If you can post a video of her spasm and flipping, and the gasping, it would be immensely helpful. You'd have to post it to YouTube or similar video sites, then paste the link here.

Please post back with updates.
And by the way, welcome to BYC. So sorry it's under stressful circumstances! I hope she improves and makes it through.

Thank you for replying, unfortunately the little buddy died in my arms late last night. Ive been raising chickens for years, and never lost one. I’m going to note your suggestions incase this happens again. Thanks again

I wish I could say that. If I can get them through the first 2-3 days, I rarely lose one after that. But sometimes they just hatch with issues already, and can't adjust to life outside of that shell and yolk nutrition. {{{hugs}}}
