I just picked up my baby chicks in the mail. One little one was pretty cold and lethargic. Wouldn't drink or anything. I dipped its beak in nutridrench and have it warning in my shirt against my skin and it gasping slowly. Probably not gonna make it but can you think of anything else I should be doing that may help? I think its a little polish or spitzhauben didnt want to fuss with it too much to figure it out.

Did you check it for pasty butt already? I lost a little spitzhauben the day after I got it, and I believe it was to that (I had forgotten to check my new arrivals :( ). Same with a little lavender orpington...I cleaned its bottom up, but was too late. It was also breathing very irregularly.

I would get it warm under a brooder light if that is your heat source, around 93 degrees F. Dip it’s beak in water for a second as often as you can, and it can have 2 drops of the NutriDrench orally a drop at a time. Look for any poop on it’s bum and clean it off. Do you know how long they were in transit? Did they have a heat pack or were there 25 in the box? Some chicks can be weak or get trampled. You may not be able to save it, but electrolytes and water, and warmth are the best things. A bit of watery chick feed and maybe some egg yolk if he perks up would be good. Best wishes.

Yes i have it warming. And i tried dipping its beak several times to no avail. I dipped its beak in nutridrench a couple few times but its really weak, it most likely will not make it. The bum is clean and they were hatched and shipped out Weds and got here this morning so about 48 hours in transit. I ordered 16 but i think there were several extras in the box, 2 DOA. I was surprised there was not heat pack in the box. The other 2 which were DOA were a silkie and a polish, Marans are all doing great and spitzhauben seem good. Thanks for you help
