I have six 2 day old chicks in brooder with red heat lamp. Plenty of room. My runt, who was lethargic when she got here yesterday but who is doing great today has a scab on her back. I am assuming she was being pecked. I just saw a chick curiously pecking at it. Since she is a runt and I want her to be left alone, what should I do for her? Is there something I should put on it or should she be seperated? She isnt being nagged but someone must have done something to her when I wasnt watching.

Actually, more information I just thought of. My little Charlotte has been an itchy chick since I got her. She seems to pick at her side, then the other side, WAY more than the others. I don't know chick behavior yet, so I'm not sure if this is normal preening or actual itching. This scab is on the center of her back, just below her neck. I don't know if she could have reached that area herself and maybe done it scratching. It basically looks like a black crusty patch on her fur that I am assuming is a scab. At first I thought it might just be dried poop. I don't see a cut, just a very hard, crusty black patch on her fur. Nobody is picking on anyone in the brooder that I can notice. They are checked on every 2 hrs or so. I did notice two chicks kind of curiously peck at the area once each, but they didn't go back for more.
