Baby chick got scalped a little over 24 hours ago . Her wound looks so much better already. My daughter wanted to show her to the rooster he pecked her. She's about 2 weeks old maybe. She isn't eating much. She does eat on her own she has been eating yolk and a tiny bit of mash. Is it normal for her to not be eating much right now. I'm worried.

She's in shock, she's not going to be be doing much. Try some sugar water or Pedia late or Gatorade. Chickens, both male and female can be incredibly violent to new chickens. Futute note: you'll want to keep them separated on either side of a fence so they can see each other but not get at for a few weeks.

I was holding the rooster and she was holding the baby and brought her close to him. ;( At first I thought she died but hubby then went to look and she was fine. Super scary. So hopefully in a few days she will wanna eat on her own she is eating some just not as much as I would think she should be

I put antibiotic ointment on it when it happened and yesterday it looks a lot better . I didn't see any blood so I put another chick in today for a bit so she wouldn't be lonely then zhs pecked her head a tiny bit. Nothing too bad. Now I feel bad because she is lonely again. The yellow is yolk that you see near her neck lol. She is eating just not a normal amount

I probably wouldn't feel like eating if I were scalped. You're treating it properly. :] Egg yolk is a good thing to give it, lots of easy nutrition. Chicks bounce back, it will probably be fine.

I posted the photo down below it looks so much better since it happened . She mainly only will eat If she's hanging with me. I truly think she's lonely.
