I have a baby chick that is about one week old. It has been acting perfectly healthy up until now. This morning I noticed it wasn't eating and playing with its hatchmates. It would just stand to the side not moving, eyes closed. A few hours later I found it in the coop flopped over, eyes shut. Its feet look like they are turning blue or purplish at the joints of the toes. They are also quite cool to the touch, the other baby chick's feet are warm. This is unusual because it's 100+ degrees where I am, and the chicks are kept outside with their mom.
I isolated the chick and brought it indoors. Gave it some Poly Vi Sol and sugar water. It continues to decline. When I pick it up, it's limp and doesn't resist. Sometimes it will open its eyes to look at me, but very briefly.
I suspected maybe coccid, but the chicks are on medicated feed. Ordered Corid anyway but it won't be here until later today. Of note, yesterday was the first day the mother hen took them outside for free ranging. There is nothing poisonous in the yard to my knowledge, and she has no visible injuries. Oh I also checked for pasty butt and she is clean. Just a minute ago she pooped a very tiny amount, looked white and kind of watery.
What is wrong with her? I don't think she has long to live.
