Yesterday afternoon, I found an egg that was cracking. Today, I went to check on it and it still didn't hatch. There was a hole where I could see the chick feathers, so I removed most of the shell and some of the skin. Humble, my hen that went broody started pecking at the chick after I helped it out of the egg. Sometime later, Humble ignored it completely. I brought it inside. It's just scurrying around, not really walking. Did I take it out of the egg too early? I noticed that the area where the umbilical cord was produced a small amount of liquid. I attached a photo of the chick

Its legs are usually splayed.

One of my babies was unable to walk or eat and drink 24 hours after his birth I thought it was doomed to die, then found a couple videos on YouTube that led to me using masking tape to secure his legs and brought him food and water for a couple of days, now he's 13 weeks and you'd never know he'd had problems. Hope your little one gets back on his feet (no pun inended).

Good to know! I thought the same thing. I'll start to look into some videos. Thanks
