Candled my eggs today - it's day 9 of my six egg test hatch. I've got one clear, two developing nicely, one too dark, and one that *might* have a blood ring but the egg is too dark to tell for sure so I'm going to keep an eye on it...

Then I've got this one:

It's not moving much if it's moving. I think I *might* have seen it wiggle a bit but I'm not positive. I've never hatched light colored eggs so I guess it could be the contrast that looks weird to me but the mass seems oddly dark. What do you think, baby chick or bacterial mass?

Edited to add: There is a decent amount of veining. In that pic the egg looks totally clear aside from the mass but that's not so much what it looks like in real life.

If there's veining then I would say that's the chick. I would give it a few more days and then check it again. Maybe it's a quitter and thats why it doesn't look like it's moving.

Okay I had to look again and spend more time cuz it was driving me crazy. The egg is definitely vein-y AND this time I am 99% positive the little one was moving and pulsing a little bit. I sure hope so! This baby will be a cross between my BO hen and my Blue Copper Roo and I'm really curious to see what pops out! Sadly the other egg from my BO appears to be clear so if I don't get this one to hatch I'll have to collect a bunch from her and put them in with the Silkies I'm getting next month.
