Baby chick question

I think it is secure inside the coop. The run is completely covered, but the wire is 2x4" wire and I'm worried that if I left them out over night something would reach in and grab one. I think I'll put another smaller wire around the bottom of the coop in case I can't get them in all night, or if I'm not home to close them in.

kikisgirls, I just saw your note.

I too just wanted a few eggs. I bought 7 pol buff orpingtons.
within a few years I was up to 2 major coops, and several wire pens.
2 years ago I wintered over 200 assorted birds. geese, muscovy, guineas , turkeys, peacocks and chickens.
last winter I wintered about 60 chickens 2 geese and 5 guineas.
next winter NONE of the above !!

I would put all chickens in at night and closed the opening and let them out in the morning. I had to do it for a week.
