I have a 11 day old silkie that appears to be having trouble swallowing after eating. It twists and turns its neck and head as if trying to force down what it just ate. It is considerably smaller than its siblings, but it does try to eat but seems to give up after a while. I have been so distressed over this and was looking for an answer last night and came across the posts about swollen and sour crops. So I checked last night and sure enough, it does have a small bulge.
This baby has had difficulty since it started eating chick starter. I started adding olive oil and last night I nuked some egg shells and ground them up and added to a cooked crumbled egg.
Has anyone ever had one this small before with this problem? It does have trouble breathing at times, because it opens and closes its mouth. I am going to try the apple cider vinegar and yogurt along with massage to try and help it.
It is so small and definitely getting weaker.
Thanks for any help you can give me. Babecknmama
