Help! The second chick that my hen hatched has a leg issue and I’m not sure how to treat. FYI I am not going to cull the chick. It looks very healthy, is just over 24 hours old. It was stuck in the shell over 24 hours so I removed some shell during the hatching process and let the hen do the rest. I’m not sure if it’s a slipped tendon? I would like to treat asap unless it would fix itself. Please ignore the poop the hens like to roost on the brooder box overnight.

I would begin some chick vitamins with riboflavin on the label, or give human B complex crushed 1/4 tablet daily in a small bit of water or food. Do you see a sore on the side of the leg joint? Hopefully, the chick will learn to get around on its own to get to food and water.

I’ve been giving it nutri drench by mouth and in water. No sore that I can see
