Hi I need all the help I can get on raising chickens. Is it worth my time to raise chickens? I need to earn extra money....

! Pleased you joined us! To be honest, I don't think most backyard chicken keepers are in it to make money. We love fresh eggs, fresh meat, knowing what our birds eat, and to many, just spending time with our birds. I can't speak for others but I could buy eggs and chickens more cheaply than what I get from raising but to me that's totally beside the point. When you add in the cost of the coop ad run it can strart to add up. I love the fact that should I fall on tough times I have a ready supply of food out my backdoor. I don't think anyone can count of making money selling eggs or birds unless you have a large, commercial business and a lot of startup cash. If you just wanted a couple hens to provide you with eggs - that is probably doable without much cash outlay. If you are handy at making things (coop, fence etc) especially using re-purposed materials It shouldn't be too hard.
