We have put the 4 week old chicks out in the chicken coop. It is 50 at night. Do we need to keep the heat lamp on them 24 hrs?Hello, my name is Barb. We have had hands in the past, but they were older when we got them. Now we have three week old baby chicks and they are doing wonderful. I am wanting to know when we can start feeding them vegetable scraps. Thank you.
4 weeks might be a bit young, however some of them should be getting fully feathered soon. When in doubt, install your heat lamp off in the corner, turn it on at night only and if they need it they can use it. If not they will move away. They should be ok during the day if temps are in the 60s or so.We have put the 4 week old chicks out in the chicken coop. It is 50 at night. Do we need to keep the heat lamp on them 24 hrs?
