I'm new to breeding.... I had an EE Rooster and Rhode island red hen, egg in the incubator.... The chick was (25 days) fully developed you seen the beak, legs, etc..... Will the oaster shells make it harder for the chick out? Or what could it be to cause these little guys not to make it out of the shell? I have the incubator on a filing cabinet. Could me opening and causing a little shaking cause them to not hatch or what? Any advice will help..... I can send pictures of the incubator if need be.

How many eggs do you have in the incubator? Roughly, about 60 percent of eggs make it (hatch). What is the humidity level in the incubator?
And the time for a chick to be in an egg is usually 21 days, give or take a couple.

Yeah ive read up about it being 21 days..... And I had only 2 eggs in the incubator... I don't know about the humidity... I don't know where to read it at on this thing... I'll send a picture if my incubator.(-_-) it costed 140 dollars I hope it's a good one.

With only two eggs there was a small chance that either would have hatched. I'd probably start with more like 8-10. And chicks generally don't do well alone. I had one that I incubated and when it hatched it was super, duper lonely, which I think is why it died at only 3-4 days old. :(

I don't know much myself about humidity levels in incubators, but here is thread that I started yesterday, asking that question.

I believe where it shows the % is the humidity.... It that case it's low.... I need to do research on increasing its humidity....

Run it for several days and get your settings just right before you put your next eggs in.

I would also use a different thermometer to make sure both temps are reading about the same. If one is off, then one isn't right.

I also bought a little combination hygrometer and thermometer (Amazon! $7) that I leave in the incubator. It serves as a backup to check temp and humidity in case the one on the incubator doesn't work right. And I have had that happen.

I already have an extra thermometer and when I bought it its supposed to have the humidity... I just don't know how to work it.... Clicking the buttons don't work..... It just stays like how it shows. If you can tell me how to operate it that would save a lot of research time.
