Hello everyone, I had 3 ducklings hatch unexpectedly behind a bush in my front yard, my female pekin duck lost her mate, (a dog got him);( ever since that happended all she has been doing is sitting on her nest all day n night, I didn't think the eggs were fertile, on Aug 1 she jumped off her nest and was quacking like crazy! I look in the nest to see what happended 3 baby ducks had hatched, One baby was dead looked like he was smashed by the mother? but there were two vibrant ducks one, was fluffy already, the other just hatched was still wet n sleepy, we brought them in the house put them under the light, day 2 the wet duck was all dried n fluffy walking around and doing well, the other duck that was vibrant, looked sluggish and kept sleeping then she died later that day, she looked healthy the first day but she still had her umbilical cord, and her belly was extended, I'm just wondering if ducks can be born with digestive dieses, or may when the ducklings were walking around the floor did she eat a crumb that made her sick??
